It's Time

The first of a quick new series I have been dying to draw from the Harpers Bazaar/ September 2011 issue with Kim Noorda. The ed is called 'IT'S TIME YOU GOT WHIPPED INTO SHAPE. PREPARE FRO A FASHION FETISH. WALLFLOWERS NEED NOT APPLY.' I'm a little obsessed with her at the moment, what a great comeback, especially the Ellery campaign! The clothes are just amaze in this shoot so I decided to include their details down the bottom like a true editorial. And thank god for Masking Fluid!

OnWilliam Christmas Cards

So instead of doing another lot of Christmas cards this year (you might remember from last year?) I contributed a design to OnWilliam's set that they are giving out for free through stores on William St. 14 stores have an artist each and having just finished up an exhibition with Tu they chose me to be their artist! Check out the full set here, there are some beauties. And a big THANK YOU and congrats to On William for being the first ever (not joking) client to send me copies of my merchandise for them! Received a beautiful pack in the mail of not only my own OnWilliam Collectable Christmas Cards but everyone elses! You guys are the best!

Also pop over to sketch show, new season illos just posted!

Graffiti Dress

This month I met the most inspiring person I have met for a long time. Emily Parish contacted me and asked if it would be possible for me to spray paint one of her Aurelio Costarella dresses, and yes, she had cleared it with Ray! She was attending a charity ball and wanted to wear one of her favorite dresses but with a twist. Emily and her husband Rick run The Telethon Adventurers which is dedicated to their late son Elliot. Emily is brave, charming and a true Adventurer and she wore the hell out of that dress! Cant wait to be a contributing part to their charity, their passion is astounding.

Urban Walkabout Claremont

The third cover in the Perth Urban Walkabout Guides I have done. This time I thought I'd show you guys a bit of the process that goes into it. The two pencil illustrations are the originals that I sent to Urban Walkabout to choose from with their colour option in the middle, I like giving a couple of options! They went for the one on the right probably because if you were to walk past the guide in a shop she is a little more interesting and has a bit more detail going on. View the guide here and pics from the opening night here! 2 more to go!
PS This is my 60th post!

Pippa McManus + Aurelio Costarella + Jeans West

A few months back Aurelio Costarella asked me to create an illustration for a charity he was working closely with. I used ink on watercolour paper to produce the original illustration of the Venus gown (above left) and Photoshop to colour the final product (top)! We were so excited when the totes hit the stores, and I have spotted quite a few being carried around the city;) They can be purchased for $19.99 through Jeans West stores and also online here. $5 from every tote purchased goes to Pink Ribbon Day!

Seeing Double Exhibition

Well, the lovely Ann Nie from Tu asked be to be her second ever exhibitor at her new Stairwell Gallery! It opened last week and was such a fantastic night! This collection you may notice is a bit softer than my last exhibition and the girls are more sweet than sultry but you can read more about it here or with the lovely Emma Bergmeier on her Dropstitch blog. The 20 works are all prints from a range of colour pencil fashion illustrations I did exclusively for the exhibition. Each piece has a sister. All are editions of 10 (so you have ten chances to nab one!) and come framed, some with coloured mats and are $240 each. You can purchase the artwork by contacting Tu: info@tu.com.au

In other news I now have a Facebook artist page! You can check it out and 'like' me here
Also Proenza Schouler retweeted my sketch Show illustration a couple of days ago!!!

Urban Walkabout Perth

The second issue of Urban Walkabout's Perth series was released last week! LOVE the background colour they chose to pair with my illo. She is Natalia Vodianova if you were wondering and she is wearing a Christian Dior/Miu Miu inspired outfit. And what a great launch party,  I got to draw all the invitee's shoes and they got to keep the lil illo as a gift:)

CQ Lines of Style Exhibition

This month I was asked to exhibit at Claremont Quarter in conjunction with Perth Fashion Festival alongside artist and close friend Anya Brock. We both have the same subject matter so the process was a quick but easy one. Organised in 3 weeks I had six 71 cm x 101 cm canvasses to order, paint and deliver! There was a small AM opening for press, CQ and PFF staff and they are up and for sale until Oct 6th. I'm equally obsessed with Daphne Groeneveld and Frida Gustavsson (top left & right).

And dont forget to visit my new catwalk illustration blog Sketch Show! And please FOLLOW! xpip

Marni for BOX Magazine

I was so happy when BOX magazine contacted me to do a little illustration job for their upcoming Spring issue, especially as they requested some Marni illustrations! Consuelo Castiglioni has always been an inspiration to me, the way she uses print and texture is beautiful and her always identifiable colour palette is the best. Thank you BOX mag team! Everyone go grab your copy now!

Louis Baxters

PHOTO: Andrew Baker
I had the fabulous opportunity of creating a mural for the opening of Subiaco cafe Louis Baxters last month. The cafe is owned by Eamon Sullivan and Laki Baker, Eamon had previously invested in some of my artwork and wanted me to create a unique artwork with a street feel, recognise the girl? I go there all the time now (is that narcissistic?) the coffee is amaze and the food just as good, try the lambwitch ;)

UPDATE: View an article/interview featuring more pics of the mural on The Velvet Bow.

Perth Fashion Festival

Wow, what a week! Perth Fashion Festival was amazing this year, well done to all involved. I was commissioned to do a mural on a big blank temporary (yep, it will be painted over) wall at the GPO where the free to the public parades were held. I was told the wall was 3.6m x 12 m, HUGE. So I did no planning and within 4 hours, multiple bottles of spray paint and no projector Nicole Trunfio was done!

Claremont Quarter Fashion Fortnight

I have spent the last month or so working on illustrations for Claremont Quarter's Fashion Fortnight campaign and have just now had the chance to blog about it! It was such a great project to work on and I got to experiment with my new love of mixing watercolour and pencils. The illustrations are all over the center and W.A's print media which has been amazing to see. The stores there are so amazing (Sass & Bide, Zara Bryson, Mecca) that I have already spent my earnings, whoops!

Urban Walkabout

Saskia got chosen to grace the cover of Perth's first edition of Urban Walkabout! AND she got a friend, coincidentally the first boy I have ever drawn (so he had to be in Prada). What an amazingly fun project it was to work on with the UW team, and cos Mt Lawley is my hood. You can read an interview with me here. Cant wait to do the series of upcoming covers...

Another 30 min

This time in COLOUR! Quick concept sketch for Monday's upcoming post. Not a huge amount of effort put in but sometimes that's better cos there is less pressure and it ends up nice and loose. The model, btw, is . I like: the way her first name is spelled, the fact she has 'cute' in her last name and she is wearing that amazing Christopher Kane pink lace dress!

Bjork

Ohhhh, ten days into the month and I'm only now doing my first post! Whoops! This is a commission I just finished for my lovely friend Adam. He wanted Bjork and was there anyother image to choose from really? I love this dress so much and while I was completing it found out she was dropping gold eggs on the red carpet, fabulous! Thanks Adam!

Hello! Well 400 followers today and to celebrate an illo of one of my favorite ever models Jessica Miller! I do love her and she looks to be making a comeback lately too:) And to go with 400 followers four wishes: to be represented by the Jacky Winter Group, to be featured on the amazing illustrator site I Love Illustration, to be published in Vogue and to own these Miu Miu's.

Sass & Bide S/S 11

About 6 months ago I got pretty obsessed with that pink raffia skirt by Sass & Bide. I harassed the poor girls at the S&B store in Perth till I finally bought it. While I was coveting I drew it and some other faves from the collection. Then I got invited to the Claremont store opening and got to meet Sarah-Jane and their gorgeous PR manager at the time Jacqueline Perrett! A dream since I was a fashion student 7 yrs ago. So I sent this to them the other day.

Ashley Smith

An ink, pencil and charcoal pencil illustration of amaz model Ashley Smith for ELLERY. This shoot was so inspiring I loved illustrating it. AND it's A3! I am working more and more in that size. It takes a little longer but looks nicer on a wall. Also I need that belt immediately. Off to the ELLERY store!

Saskia is Dazed and Confused

Oooh my first iPhone photo post. I always hoped it would never come to this! I have no time at the moment to get this one scanned unfortunately. I fell in love with this shoot featured in Dazed and Confused staring Saskia de Brauw. Lots of fun to draw after doing so much inky drippy stuff for so long. Sister piece on it's way!

ELLERY Perth Trunk Show

Two whole months ago I was invited to do a mural for the ELLERY trunk show in Perth and just now I am posting, tsk tsk. I had the lovely Cheyne Tiller-Daly photograph it for me (now you all know what I look like too, eeek). Easily one of the best jobs (and nights!) I have had and so flattered Kym likes my work as much as I like hers. I drew three of my favorites from the night. See more photos from the event here and here.

Natalia Vodianova @ 399

A couple of nights ago I participated in a Perth illustrators sketch group at 399 Bar. It was great fun meeting everyone and drinking wine and chatting about art stuff because I don't have many friends I can do that with (which can sometimes be a positive thing too). I brought a copy of Vogue Italia (supplement) Sep 2006 and did some 30 min, randomly picked couture images. This is the 1st.

Abbey Lee Kershaw (30min)

I have been going to lots of life drawing classes lately and the thing I love most about them is the warm up time. Having to put down something in 30 seconds and 1, 2 and 5 minuets. So today I did a 30 min sketch of Abbey Lee. I gave myself 2 mins for initial pencil layout, 10 mins for ink and the rest for filling in detail with charcoal pencil. Now for a colour one...

Arizona Muse 2

Promised you! The second illustration of Arizona. Now I can move on to the rest of the 'Draw It NOW' file. I'm liking this technique of laying down watercolour then drawing over the top in colour pencils so will continue on with that till I get bored of it again!

Arizona Muse

I have a permanent file on my desk-top called 'Draw This'. I put all the images I come across and fall in love with in it. Nothing ever gets drawn. I get bored of them so quickly, so, the file has been re-named 'Draw This NOW'! Arizona went in there this morning and came out this afternoon! She is A3 so excuse the photo instead of a scan, off to do another one!

300 Folowers!

Today I have 300 lovely lovelies following me! I'm so thankful:) It was a year ago exactly that I had 100 followers! So I thought I'd post a little sample of the Fall 2011 collections I have been putting into a sketch book, I plan to do this every season (but not cruise and pre-fall, cos I'm not on board with those yet, haha!). Should I do another blog devoted to them? Possibly...

Hilary-Eniko-Missy

Another For the card/print series. Not long now, just working out the business side of it all (something that artists are notoriously bad at doing!). She seams to be a hybrid between Hilary Rhoda, Eniko Mihalik and Missy Rayder. Just cant keep away from those baby pink backgrounds, looks so sweet with the red!

Victoria

The pink obsession continues! This time inspired by a Shop Till You Drop T-Birds editorial in the Dec 2010 issue. Original photograph by the super talented Steven Chee (love his retro vibe) Styled by Jesse Hart. Our Model is Victoria @ Chadwick Models but cant find her on the site! I have digitally coloured the background this time:)

Spots & Fur

Another little experiment with Art Spectrum Masking Fluid. I'm really starting to love this stuff. Alot of people say it's cheating but I don't think so! The concept for this was to to show her face. I LOVE doing portraits so it was a defiantly a challenge. The dress is very YSL I think:)

Oh and I am currently doing a piece for an amazing fashion illustration exhibition called Drawn From Fashion. My artwork will sit alongside my Aussie fashion illustration heros like Kelly Smith, Bec Winnel and Catherine Campbell. So excited to be invited and so excited to show you all the Piece!

CoCo

Decided that I'm way too obsessed with my Prismacolour pencils and need to branch out! So the lovely Jackson's kids recommended Art Spectrum Masking Fluid so I had a big play. I used black ink and masking fluid and photocopied the finished product to acetate. After that I washed colour onto some watercolour paper and overlaid the acetate. Here is Coco Rocha doing what she does best- Dancing!

Zomp Invite

Having worked in a shoe shop for the past 3 years you could say I have a little bit of an obsession. So every year I am given the honor of illustrating the Christmas party invite. We dont sell Louboutins but we all still worship them, as demonstrated in last years invite (above).
